April showers brought May flowers, but a late-May temperature bump is going to bring air conditioners back to life.
A slow-moving warm front will linger over the area throughout the end of the week, bring above-average temperatures and humid air from Wednesday to Saturday, with high temperatures in the lower-80's.
The warm front will push the cool air our area has seen the last few days out by mid-Wednesday, bringing thunderstorms throughout the day and a high of 80° in West Islip.
Thursday and Friday will lose most of the threat of thunderstorms, but high temperatures will remain around 82° on both days with mostly sunny skies. Some more clouds will move across Long Island by the weekend, bringing temperatures a bit lower in the mid-70's.
The record high for Islip, New York during the month of May was set in 1987 when our area hit a blistering 95°.
