WEST ISLIP, NY — A West Islip eighth-grader has won a local art contest. Adrianna Assoon, a Udall Road Middle School student in the West Islip Union Free School District, has been named a winner in the American Legion's annual Festival of Lights Art Cover Contest. The American Legion West Islip Post 1738 sponsors the multi-faith celebration every year and the contest is now in its 48th year. Assoon will receive a plaque and be recognized during a ceremony in early December.
