As the Gaffney family continues to heal from the loss of 5-year-old John, they have decided to celebrate his life by hosting a special fundraiser in his honor. The will take place at The Hamlet at Willow Creek in Mt. Sinai on Monday, Oct. 8. As kids across West Islip headed on the bus to start a new school year, parents snapped their photos and shared them on Patch. He's also begun walking--something doctors feared he would never be able to do.
