West Islip Educator Named Business Teacher of the Year
"She is the essence of what an excellent role model and teacher should be."

WEST ISLIP, NY — A West Islip business teacher was recently recognized as the best on Long Island.
Patricia Morgigno, educator at West Islip High School, was named Long Island Business Teacher of the Year by the Long Island Business Teachers’ Association on May 23.
The nomination was largely written by members of the West Islip High School business department and by Morgigno’s students, the West Islip School district said.

Morgigno is a 25-year veteran teacher within the district. Besides teaching, she is involved in many philanthropic, community-minded events such as “Lemons To Lemonade” during the pandemic. This event raised thousands of dollars to help feed and support healthcare workers and keep businesses in the West Islip community open.
“We are indeed very lucky to have Ms. Morgigno as a member of the business education department,” said Mrs. Macrelli, a fellow colleague. “She is the essence of what an excellent role model and teacher should be.”
