West Islip High School has been named as a New York State Reward School by New York State Education Department Commissioner John King for the 2013-2014 school year. Among other criteria, Reward School status is awarded to schools that are identified among those schools with a four-year cohort graduation rate that exceeds 80%, and the school must exceed the state average for students graduating with either a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation or a Career and Technical Education (CTE) endorsement. In West Islip, the four-year graduation rate for the 2007 cohort (Class of 2012) was 95%, and the percent of students who earned Regents Diplomas with Advanced Designation was 61%, versus a statewide average of 31%.

Last year's graduation rate was 95 percent.
