LI Resident Wows On 'The Voice,' Chooses Team Ariana Grande

WEST ISLILP, NY — A West Islip woman wowed the judges and chose a coach during her blind audition Tuesday night on NBC's singing competition "The Voice".

Bella DeNapoli, 22, joined Grammy-winner Ariana Grande's team after performing a cover of Danity Kane's "Damage." Her powerful performance gained the attention of Grande, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, who simultaneously pressed their buzzers for her.

Grande was especially impressed by DeNapoli's use of variability in her song.

"It's great to have the ability to do a lot of different things with your voice," said Grande. "All of a sudden your tone switched into this goddess."

"Holy cannoli pls pinch me" wrote DeNapoli in an Instagram post about the show, which is now in its 21st season. "The opportunity to even sing for 4 of the most talented and inspiring artists of our time on @nbcthevoice stage was a dream come true. i am forever grateful to share this journey."

Another Long Island native, Kaitlyn Velez, 21, of Ronkonkoma, also joined country star Blake Shelton's team with her rendition of "Please Don't Go" by Mike Posner.

Viewers can watch DeNapoli and Velez on"The Voice" on Tuesday, October 5 on NBC at 8 p.m. EST, or stream it on Peacock.
