To celebrate the first ever West Islip Relay for Life, the community is hosting a kick off event Thursday evening. The kick off will take place on Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. All members of the West Islip community are welcome to attend and learn more about the event. <a href="http://www.relayforlife.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Relay for Life</a> is an annual fundraiser to benefit cancer patients and research through the American Cancer Society. To date, Relay events have raised more than $3 billion worldwide. Thursday's event will raise awareness of the actual overnight relay, which will take place in June. Refreshments will be served.
