West Islip Students Make Sweet Dreams for Kids in Need

For every pair of pajamas Bayview Elementary School students donated, Scholastic donated a book at Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive.

Students in Justin J. DeMaio’s fifth-grade class at West Islip’s Bayview Elementary School brought in pairs of new pajamas during the holiday season as part of Scholastic’s Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive, according to a school press release.

The initiative strives to teach students the value of giving and the power of reading.

For each donated pair of pajamas, Scholastic donates a book, and the Pajama Program distributes the pajamas and new books to children in need.

“My class is trying to share with others the many comforts we take for granted,” said DeMaio. “Who doesn’t enjoy getting into bed with a nice pair of pajamas and a good book?”
