West Islip Tied For Highest-Ranking School District In NY: Report

WEST ISLIP, NY — West Islip Union Free School District is tied for the highest-ranking school district in New York State, according to a report by Syracuse.com.

The ranking is based on the 2023-2024 language arts regents results from 316 students, which tied the district with 22 other school districts out of 634 across New York State. It is also among the top five on Long Island and the top two in Suffolk County, the report said.

"Our district administrators, building administrators, and teachers made this tremendous accomplishment possible," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Romanelli. "Beginning in the early years with building a solid foundation in literacy, to the middle and high school years where our educators work to strengthen the reading, writing, and communication skills our students need to be successful, this is truly a team effort and a collective accomplishment."
