25 Days Of Volunteering—Day 6: Lasagna Love

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — 'Tis the season for giving back to your community. There are a number of ways that you and your family can help others through the holidays.

Every day through Christmas, Patch will be highlighting a way you can provide compassion and resources to those in need.

Volunteer New York! makes it easy to find ways to help — through donations, supporting nonprofits and even volunteering from home.

Today's opportunity is volunteering is Baking lasagna to feed families with Lasagna Love.

Lasagna Love is a national nonprofit that was founded in March 2020 to feed families, spread kindness, and strengthen communities. Volunteer chefs are matched with a local family in need to learn about their dietary restrictions and preferences; they then bake a lasagna and deliver it to the recipient at an agreed-upon date and time. Volunteers must be 18+ to register, but young chefs can register alongside an adult as part of the adult's team, and students can receive community service credit if requested.

All volunteers must pass a quick training prior to baking their lasagnas.
