Cenedella: Gillibrand Chose LA Contributors Over NY Job Seekers in Internet Legislation Debacle

New York--Jan. 24...New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-WFP)-- who reportedly took more than $610,000 in campaign cash last year from Hollywood moguls -- chose the interests of her contributors in California over the interests of New York's growing tech industry and the people it hires, nationally-recognized jobs expert and potential challenger for U.S. Senate Marc Cenedella today charged.

Ms. Gillibrand did an abrupt about face on her PIPA (Protect IP Addresses) legislation after the potentially disastrous effects of her bill were exposed by Internet industry experts, including Mr. Cenedella. The bill would have authorized North-Korean-style government censorship of millions of American websites and stopped Internet job growth in New York -- one of the state's only growing industries -- dead in its tracks.

"It is unfortunate to see our junior New York Senator totally immersed in Washington-style politics," Mr. Cenedella said. "If, indeed, she took more than $600,000 in Hollywood cash and then did its bidding over the interests of her own constituents, she does not belong in public office. There are unanswered questions out there about whether she even read the bill before putting her name on it."

Senator Gillibrand has, for an entire week, refused to respond to inquiries on whether she  a.) spoke with entertainment industry contributors before sponsoring PIPA, b.) actually read the anti-NY bill before signing onto it, or c.) could give an up-to-date reporting of how much cash she has received from Hollywood lobbyists and interests. 

"I spend my days helping people find work, while Washington politicians seem to spend theirs putting companies out of business or sending them overseas," Mr. Cendella, a native of Western, NY and the founder of the jobs and career advice company TheLadders, continued. "Ms. Gillibrand's Obamacare support and now this makes one rightly worry that she does not understand the economy at all."
