UFCW Local 1500 Endorses Jeremiah Frei-Pearson for NYS Assembly

White Plains, NY – UFCW Local 1500, New York State’s largest supermarket workers union, representing more than 23,000 hard working men and women, endorses Jeremiah Frei-Pearson, Democratic candidate for the New York State Assembly’s 89th district encompassing the towns of Lewisboro, Pound Ridge, Bedford, New Castle, North Castle, Mount Kisco, Harrison and part of the City of White Plains.

In determining the endorsement, Local 1500 cited Frei-Pearson’s dedicated commitment to working families as a public interest lawyer and community leader. Local 1500 also noted that Frei-Pearson himself is the product of a union family, having a brother that serves as a member of UFCW in Mount Kisco.

UFCW Local 1500 is committed to protecting workers’ rights including well-paying jobs, safe working conditions and respect in the workplace. As such, the union is proud support a candidate who is committed to protecting Westchester’s working men and women. 

“Jeremiah Frei-Pearson has shown himself to be a fierce advocate for working families. As someone who understands the fundamental concepts of workers’ rights,” said Pat Purcell, UFCW Local 1500’s Director of Special Projects. “Working men and women can trust Jeremiah to stand up for what’s right and work toward establishing a strong economy that provides secure, fair-paying jobs for all New Yorkers. UFCW Local 1500 is proud to endorse Jeremiah Frei-Pearson.”

In response to UFCW Local 1500’s endorsement, Frei-Pearson expressed his gratitude, stating “It’s a great honor to receive UFCW Local 1500’s endorsement. I am proud to stand up for Westchester’s working families and I will continue to be an advocate for greater economic opportunity, fair wages, and a better standard of living for all New Yorkers.”

Jeremiah Frei-Pearson is a candidate for the New York State Assembly’s 89th District, which includes Lewisboro, Pound Ridge, Bedford, New Castle, North Castle, Mount Kisco, the City of Harrison and part of the City of White Plains. A John Jay graduate, Jeremiah has spent his career reforming failed government systems on behalf of children and families. 

Jeremiah has been a leader in the fight to make state government work for our community, maintain excellence in our public schools and to reduce property taxes and the cost of living so that Westchester provides the next generation of children with the same opportunities afforded to previous generations. He is running for the State Assembly so that he can stand up for Westchester families and effectively tackle the challenges facing New York state.

Note: As of the date of this release, under the new state legislative district maps produced by the New York State Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment, the 89th Assembly District will become the 93rd Assembly District and will add the town of North Salem.
