Good—a Pennsylvania native now living in White Plains, NY—has championed this issue since 2008, when she was victim to an accident caused by a distracted driver. Good survived the accident, en route to her Lancaster, PA home following her college graduation.
A distracted driver on his cell phone ran a red light, causing a tractor trailer to swerve and hit the Good's car—killing both her parents, Jay and Jean Good, and severely injuring Jacy.

"Five Seconds," said Good. "That is how long it takes to drive the distance of a football field going 55 miles per hour. Imagine doing that with a blindfold on? That is exactly what happens when people are distracted by cell phone use when driving."
Good, who is now a nationally recognized advocate for curbing distracted driving, was thrilled to see the NTSB recommendations.
"I am ecstatic to see that the National Transportation Safety Board has recommended a federal ban on all cell phone use while driving," said Good.
"More and more people are in agreement that it is the responsible, common-sense, and life-saving thing for our government to enact laws to protect drivers on the road from their biggest threat: distractions to their fellow drivers. My family suffered immensely because a driver couldn't put down his cell phone. No conversation, text, or email is worth another person's life. The NTSB recommendation is a long overdue step in the right direction, and our nation's people and lawmakers need to heed this common sense announcement and begin to take the steps toward eliminating these 100% preventable tragedies."
