Free Books for White Plains Kids at Fair
The White Plains PTA is sponsoring a district-wide free book fair on May 4 to promote literacy and increase local families' access to books.
Free books, giveaways and musical and bilingual storytimes are just a few of the activities at next week's White Plains Free Book Celebration at Eastview Middle School.
"It's important to find innovative ways to help overcome some of the challenges that many of our families face—such as insufficient access to books," said Caroline Furry, co-chair PTA FREE Book CelebrationWhite Plains PTA Council.
"We all know that the majority of parents are enthusiastic about helping their children become better students and readers; one more way to support them is to provide them with books and strategies," she added.

The slogan for the event is “Kids Who Read Succeed”, a simple fact which is still very hard to achieve, say PTA represenatatives. Toward that end, they say they've planned literacy-promoting activities such as creative read alouds and will distribute free children’s books and parents’ literacy worksheets to support the home school connection.
Here's a full schedule of the events, slated to happen May 4, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the middle school courtyard. The rain location will be the second floor gymnasium.
