From Scarsdale Studio: 'All Children Are Musical'

When it comes to youngsters and early childhood education, music is cardinal.

That dictum from Scarsdale's Jackie Freimor, the director at Over the Moon an More on Garth Avenue.

Music, like language, is accessible to everyone, Freimor says. But like the spoken word, it's best learned at a young age.

"All children are musical," Freimor added. "And the body is their primary instrument."

Freimor also runs Music Together programs throughout Westchester, outgrowths of a 25-year-old international organization with a curriculum aimed at bringing music and movement to kids -- from singing to percussion.

The classes work with children seven and younger.

Freimor attended the organization's international conference earlier this month.

"I now have even more tools to educate local parents about how to create a musical home life for their children," Freimor said. " Music Together is like no other program in Westchester, and I am proud to serve the community and help parents and their young children bond through music and movement."
