Office For Women Collects Socks For Domestic Violence Shelters, Others
Socks are one of the most requested items for people facing housing insecurity.
WHITE PLAINS, NY — More than 500 pairs of socks were collected and distributed for people in need in Westchester County.
The Westchester County Office for Women partnered with the Women’s Ministry of the Messiah Baptist Church of Yonkers to collect the socks that were given to local police departments, domestic violence shelters and the Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network.
Socks are one of the most requested items for people facing housing insecurity, a county spokesperson said. Other needed items include feminine hygiene products, formula, diapers and baby products.

The Office for Women also collected and distributed diapers, gift cards and groceries over the holiday season.
Together with the county’s Department of Social Services, the Office for Women tries to meet the needs of all of Westchester’s residents, according to a spokesperson.
