Police: Teen Faces Felony For Bike Theft

A White Plains teen's attempt to steal a $1,500 bicycle on Mamaroneck Ave. landed him in police custody facing felony charges, police say.

Police say the 17-year-old grabbed the Trek bicycle that was parked near 442 Mamaroneck Ave. at 9:43 a.m. Monday. The bike's owner called police as he saw the teen riding the bike south on Bryant Ave., according to an arrest report.

Based on the description provided, the suspect was stopped by officers near the intersection of Bryant Ave. and Wyndham Close. The bike's owner later identified the 17-year-old as the one who stole his bike, according to an arrest report.

The teen was charged with felony grand larcey because of the value of the bicycle.
