Police: Woman Uses Unwitting Friend in Larceny

A White Plains woman used an involuntary friend in her attempt to shoplift from the on Main Street Thursday, police said.
The 34-year-old woman was caught on store security cameras placing four bathroom toiletry items valued at $34 in her purse and then handing the purse off to her friend while they exited the store, according to arrest reports.

Police don't believe the woman's friend had any idea what was going on.
Store security stopped the suspect as she was retrieving the items from the purse outside the store, according to arrest reports. The woman was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and held for court.
