Proposed $266M White Plains School Budget On The Ballot May 21

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The 2024 budget and school board vote is May 21, and three seats are up for election on the White Plains City School District Board of Education.

The proposed spending plan of $265,900,000 is 3.6 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy is expected to be reduced to 1.06 percent, which amounts to $19.39 monthly for a White Plains homeowner with an assessed value of $15,000.

District officials said that the budget would support: instruction, employee benefits, general support, pupil transportation, debt service, and interfund transfers.

Proposition #2 on the ballot will ask voters to approve a new Capital Reserve Fund to support future capital projects per the district's updated Building Condition Survey & Master Infrastructure Long-Range Plan. There will be no cost to taxpayers.

Three board seats will be up for election. The three-year terms will start July 1, 2024.

Candidates running include: Jessica Buck, Donna Giambalvo, Leslie Hickey, Cayne Letizia (incumbent), Rose Lovitch (incumbent), Craig Mondschein, Vincent Orlando and Ferenc Tasnady.
