Ridgeway Needs Volunteers to Build Playground
Construction will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

After lots of hard work, there’s still more.
Now that the Ridgeway Elementary School community raised enough funds for a new playground, all that’s left to do is build it.
The White Plains school is looking for volunteers this weekend to help with construction on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The school’s secondary playground is used more by more than 700 students and is also available to the White Plains community. A few years ago, the school administration and PTA decided that it should be replaced.

After a few creative fund raising efforts—including Zumba, Pins to Playground, farmers markets, and donations—the school had enough for a new playground.
Students even got to choose the color combination for the new playground. Students voted between Tropic, Natural and Primary on Jan. 28.
“The completion of this fund raising project not only brought our school closer, but really demonstrated the power of a united community,” the district’s website says. “The entire RW [Ridgeway] Community now waits in anticipation for the next step of constructing the playground!”
