Westchester County Earns Best Possible Fiscal Stress Score From NYS Comptroller

Westchester County has once again received the best possible score in the New York State Comptroller’s Fiscal Stress Monitoring System, confirming the County’s continued financial strength and responsible fiscal management.

For the 2024 fiscal year, Westchester County earned a “0.0” Fiscal Stress Score with “no designation”—the highest rating achievable under the Comptroller’s model. This marks the third consecutive year the County has received this score, reflecting a record of stability and careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “Earning the best possible fiscal stress score for three years running proves that our commitment to smart financial planning, investment in services, and responsible budgeting is paying off. Westchester County is on solid ground, and we’re proud to deliver results that strengthen confidence in our future.”

Westchester’s fiscal scores over the last three years have consistently shown strength:

• 2022: 0.0 – No Designation
• 2023: 0.0 – No Designation
• 2024: 0.0 – No Designation

The Fiscal Stress Monitoring System, developed by the New York State Comptroller’s Office, provides an objective review of counties, cities, towns, villages, and school districts across New York. It analyzes year-end financial information to determine whether a local government may face fiscal challenges.

In addition to fiscal stress scores, the State Comptroller also tracks environmental stress. Westchester’s environmental stress scores have remained low, with no designation over the last three years.
