The following is a statement from White Plains Police Benevolent Association President Rob Riley

We are very disappointed that anybody would release the name of this officer during an ongoing investigation. has numerous commendations and has been an excellent police officer, both on and off the job, and he deserves the right to a fair and impartial inquiry.
The White Plains Police Deptartment has always been held to the highest ethical and legal standards.
Whenever a life is taken during police work—whether a civilian or an officer—it is always a great tragedy.
Our highest goal as police officers is to protect the safety of everyone in the community. We believe this is such a tragic case and are confident that the investigation process will show our officers acted appropriately.
