White Plains Performing Arts Center Mainstage Season Revealed

No need to head to NYC when the WPPAC is bringing "In The Heights," "Anastasia," and "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" to Westchester.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The Great White Way ain't got nothing on White Plains. The White Plains Performing Arts Center has announced a lineup of crowd-favorite Broadway Musicals.

"The idea of having to travel to NYC to get a professional quality musical is a thing of the past for Westchester residents with White Plains Performing Arts Center's 2023-2024 Mainstage Season transforming Westchester into a Broadway musical haven," the center promises.

Just because the performances are a few miles off Broadway, that doesn't mean the production standards aren't more than worthy of the limelight.

In The Heights: Tony Award winner for "Best Musical" & "Best Original Score." Music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton. October 6 - October 22.

"From the creator of Hamilton, In The Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights, a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always, open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind."

Anastasia: From the Tony Award-winning creators of Ragtime. December 15 - January 7.

"From the Tony Award winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime, comes this dazzling musical based on the beloved 1997 animated movie. From the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat to find out if she is indeed Princess Anastasia. Including classic songs from the motion picture like 'Journey to the Past' and 'Once Upon a December,' this show is the perfect show for the whole family."

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical: April 12 - May 5.

"Before she was hit-maker Carole King – she was Carole Klein, a spunky, young songwriter from Brooklyn with a unique voice. From the chart-topping hits she wrote for the biggest acts in music to her own life-changing, trailblazing success with Tapestry, Beautiful takes you back to where it all began and takes you on the ride of a lifetime. Featuring such unforgettable classics as “You’ve Got a Friend”, “One Fine Day”, “So Far Away”, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, and “Natural Woman”, this Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical phenomenon is filled with the songs you remember and the story you’ll never forget."
