Bicycle Scavenger Hunt Rolls Into Williamsburg

The Urban Bike Challenge on July 29 supports making New York streets safer for local cyclists.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN – An urban bicycling scavenger hunt rolls into New York City on July 29 in a partnership between folding bike manufacturer Brompton and bike bag maker Ortlieb. Check-in is at 11 a.m. for a noon start.

The Urban Bike Challenge begins at Rough Trade NYC in Williamsburg, located at 64 N Ninth St. Entry is $20 per person, and proceeds go to Transportation Alternatives.

Participants navigate using a free app called Adventures. Points are awarded through the app for visiting locations, completing tasks and solving clues.

A limited number of Brompton bicycles will be available to borrow. Bikers can register in teams of two to four or as individuals who will then be matched to a team. The team that scores the most points wins.

“With more than 1.6 million cyclists in New York City, urban cycling has rapidly become a mainstream activity,” Katharine Horsman, president of Brompton Bicycle North America, said in a recent press release.
