New East Williamsburg Concert Venue to Host PJ Harvey, Animal Collective
Brooklyn Steel, owned by The Bowery Presents, opens in spring 2017, to host The Decemberists, Laura Marling, Two Door Cinema Club, and more.
EAST WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — In keeping with the Williamsburg tradition of converting ugly factories into hip money-making machines, a new concert venue in East Williamsburg called Brooklyn Steel is opening in spring 2017 under The Bowery Presents, the concert promoter responsible for Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, and Terminal 5, among other venues in NYC.
The Decemberists will play three shows in April, a show by PJ Harvey on April 20 is already sold out, and Pixies, Two Door Cinema Club, Animal Collective, Perfume Genius, Whitney, Tycho, The Black Angels, and San Fermin are all scheduled to perform.
Brooklyn Steel is 20,000 square feet of concert space to be opened at 319 Frost St., a former steel factory. It has raised platforms and a mezzanine, for audiences who are concerned about views, as well as three bars. The main lobby bar is built using repurposed materials, including steel from the original factory.

"We think this is the missing link in the city,” Jim Glancy, one of The Bowery Presents' principals, told the New York Times in a feature about the venue. "In the 1,000-to-3,000 range, there aren’t that many venues for a city this size, and there hasn’t really been anything new in a decade," he said.
Here's the full line-up of bands that have been booked.
