A Horror-Themed Book Cafe Is Coming To Williamsburg: What To Know
Williamsburg may soon welcome The Twisted Spine, a first-of-its-kind horror bookstore.

WILLIAMSBURG, NY — A chilling new spot is brewing in Williamsburg—perfect for horror fans and book lovers alike.
The Twisted Spine, a horror-themed bookshop and café, has signed a five-year lease for 1,500 square feet at the base of 306 Grand Street, the owners announced on social media.
While plans are still in the early stages, the shop aims to open later this fall—just in time for the spooky Halloween season. To help cover initial costs for the brick-and-mortar location, the owners have launched a Kickstarter campaign.

Describing itself as a “portal into the macabre” and a “haven for horror enthusiasts,” the bookstore launched last summer as New York City’s first shop devoted entirely to horror and dark fiction, according to its website.
Having gained recognition through various pop-up events around the city, the store’s upcoming location on the corner of Havemeyer and Grand Street will be its inaugural permanent storefront.

"Fueled by a love for all things unsettling, our founders have set out on a journey to create a space where the world of horror can thrive — not just a place to buy books, but a sanctuary for like-minded souls who revel in the darker side of literature," their website reads.
The new location will feature a carefully curated collection of over 5,000 titles, offering something for horror fans of all levels. By day, visitors can enjoy a full espresso bar, which will transform into a beer and wine bar in the evening.
The space will also host a lively calendar of events celebrating horror literature and film, including book launches, author readings, movie screenings, book clubs and more, officials said.
