Victim identified as 22-year-old Jesus Pimentel of the Bronx in early Tuesday morning shooting on North 6th Street in Williamsburg: NYPD

Update: 22-year-old Jesus Pimentel of the Bronx has been identified as the shooting victim according to the NYPD, who notified his family on Tuesday.
WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A 22-year-old male was shot but managed to dial 911 before falling to the street and succumbing to his wounds around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in Williamsburg, the NYPD said.
Police from the 94th precinct responded to a 911 call reporting an assault around 1:30 a.m. near North 6th Street and Kent Avenue. Upon arrival police found the man suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and right leg.

Despite his bleeding wounds, the unnamed victim hobbled one block while calling 911 prior to collapsing on the sidewalk near North 7th Street the NY Daily News reported. Police are in the process of notifying his family.

According to PIX 11 News, the shooting victim "struggled with two men," which was recorded by surveillance footage captured near the scene.

Detectives are investigating the shooting as a homicide and had no new information as of Tuesday afternoon.
Through Aug. 28, shooting incidences in the 94th precinct are unchanged from last year, according to NYPD statistics, with two total. Shooting victims are up a deceiving 100 percent with four so far this year compared with two shooting victims during the same time period in 2015.
