Not Everyone Has Figured Out the New Queens-to-Brooklyn Bike Path
Here is video footage — half hilarious, half terrifying — of a VW sedan cruising through the brand-new Pulaski Bridge bike lane.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — The new, $5 million bike lanes running along the Pulaski Bridge from Queens to Brooklyn, pride and joy of city transit officials, are apparently not enough to keep crazy NYC drivers from staying in the car lanes.
Greenpoint resident Steven Stone videotaped one such driver plowing toward Brooklyn in the two-way bike path in a black VW sedan late last week. (Footage below.)

"I was just minding my own business, generally, going over the bridge," Stone told Gothamist. "I thought maybe it was a DOT vehicle or a cop, because I’ve seen that before."
But no, he said, this was "definitely not some professional person driving over here, definitely some civilian. I started recording, mind blown."

The cyclist also said in his interview with Gothamist that two flimsy plastic posts, previously placed at each end of the bridge to steer cars away from the bike lane, were nowhere in sight last week.
We've contacted NYC Department of Transportation officials about why that might be. Because $5 million later, clearly something isn't working here.
