Palm Springs-Styled Bar Opens In Greenpoint This Week

The Springs took over a giant 224 Franklin St. spot for its California in New York styled bar, owners said.

GREENPOINT, NY — A giant Palm Springs-inspired bar plans to open in Greenpoint this week serving up frozen cocktails and dishes from an outdoor food truck, owners said.

The Springs will open at 224 Franklin St. on Thursday with a huge indoor spot and outdoor patio aiming to bring the feel of Southern California to New York City, owners said.

The bar will be open from noon to 2 a.m. every day with coffee and egg sandwiches in the morning for people to get some work done and a variety of beer, cocktails and more for afterward, according to the owners.

Owners said they sourced mid-century modern furniture from California to decorate the 25,000-square-foot interior of the spot. The space also has a 5,000-square-foot patio with brightly colored walls and a patio.

Cocktails include Desert Springs — tequila, Dolin Blanc, cucumber, mint and Thai chili — along with their take on a Moscow Mule, dubbed the Mojave Mule, and four slushy drinks.

The spot also has 12 beers on tap, 30 cans and a food truck outside serving up dishes like grilled cheese sandwiches and eggplant rollatini sticks.

The Springs will take over from the former t.b.d. bar, which closed in March after 10 years in the neighborhood.
