UPDATE, Thursday, 4 p.m.: According to a Brooklyn Bowl spokeswoman, Talib Kweli has been removed from the bill for tonight. "Talib will not be performing this evening. Questlove will be spinning," she told us via email. The spokeswoman declined to provide a reason for the bill change.
(Oh, also: Spike Lee will be hosting an all-Prince dance party earlier in the night at his Fort Greene film studio.)
Headline has been updated. Original story below.
WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Beginning 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the Brooklyn Bowl on Wythe Avenue, Questlove (of The Roots) will turn his weekly DJ set into an all-night tribute to the late R&B legend and sex bomb and magic genius music god known as Prince.
Prince Rogers Nelson was found dead earlier Thursday at his Minnesota estate. He was only 57.
Questlove's special guest at this Thursday's edition of his weekly Bowl Train residency is the (equally dope) rapper/spinner Talib Kweli.
"I Dj at Brooklyn Bowl tonight," Kweli tweeted Thursday afternoon. "Guess what I'm playing all night," he wrote, linking to a photo of Prince in his iconic eyeliner and afro.
Questlove appeared to confirm the all-Prince set on Instagram. (Patch has contacted Brooklyn Bowl for comment, too, just to be sure.)
Tickets for the set are $10 (!!!) and are available here. Get one while they last.
Taking off for New York with a heavy heart. I will leave you with this- Prince live from the Capitol Theater, 1982. https://t.co/m9m837OBK0
