WATCH: Drunk Dude Tries to Make Out With Jesus Statue in Williamsburg, Breaks It Instead

This is the third time a group of hooligans has targeted the sacred Jesus statue outside the Saints Peter and Paul's Rectory.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A drunk dude stumbling with friends through the streets of South Williamsburg last Saturday night couldn't resist the divine pull of the Jesus statue outside Saints Peter and Paul's Rectory, and tried to place a wet one square on its stone-cold lips, according to new video released by the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Instead, the young man damaged the statue, police said — yanking it halfway off its pedestal.

The video, included below, shows the unidentified man walking by the church with two friends, a man and a woman, around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, according to police.

As the group is seen approaching Saints Peter and Paul's Rectory at 71 South 3rd Street — a church plagued in recent years by numerous acts of vandalism — the drunk guy steps onto the fence in front of the church and embraces the back of the Jesus statue's head, pulling its face toward his.

The statue's base then cracks as it bends forward under the man's weight.

This is the third time in the past few years that an outdoor "Sacred Heart" statue has been stolen or vandalized at the South Williamsburg church.

The last time the statue was stolen, in May, Mother Maria Bendita, who works at the church, said of the hipsters who snatched it: "Poor people. They do not know what they're doing."

At least, she said, she hoped they didn't. "It's like making fun of something sacred," she said — an act she finds "especially disrespectful."

Cops have yet to track down the thieves.

And now, on top of that case, the NYPD is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the man who kissed — and broke — the church's Jesus statue last weekend.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782)

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
