7 Injured in School Bus Crash on Newkirk

All injuries minor after bus totals car at corner of Coney Island Avenue Thursday evening.

A school bus hit a car at the intersection of Coney Island Avenue and Newkirk Road just before 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

The crash sent seven people to Kings County Hospital with minor injuries, an FDNY spokesman said.

Baba Sheaken was working at a Pakistani grocery store on the corner of Coney Island and Newkirk when he heard a car's breaks and then a loud "bang."

He ran outside and saw that the bus had totaled a red sedan with an older driver inside, he said.

At about 10:15 p.m. the same evening, shattered glass still lay on the street along with a flattened street sign and bollard.

And two other cars had just had a fender bender.
