Local Greenmarket Off to a Wet Start
It was a soggy opening day for the Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket.
Wednesday's wet weather may have been ideal for growing fruits and vegetables, but it certainly wasn't ideal for selling them.
Nevertheless, a small assortment of vendors braved elements for the first day of the Bartel-Pritchard Greenmarket, which will be open every Wednesday from now until Nov. 21.
Lobsang Sultin, who sells vegetables for J. Glebocki Farms, said the turnout, while low, was better than expected. He said the market managed to draw roughly 60 people.

"The first day wasn't bad at all," he said. "We weren’t expecting too much because it was the first day. A lot of people don’t know we’re open yet, and the weather is not so good."
Despite having been standing in the rain since 8 a.m., Sultin has managed to maintain a pretty Zen outlook regarding the market's sluggish first day.

"We weren’t expecting too much, so we just accepted the day as it is," he said.
The Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket will be held every Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. through Nov. 21. As we learned today, the greenmarket will operate rain or shine.
