Brooklyn Mom Killed Baby and Carried It Around in Victoria's Secret Bag: DA
Tiona Rodriguez was 17 at the time.

A Brooklyn 19-year-old who formerly attended Bushwick Academy was indicted on Thursday for a crime she committed almost two years ago, when she was 17, says the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Rodriguez has admitted to delivering an eight-pound baby boy in the bathroom of a friend’s apartment in Queens on Oct. 16, 2013, says the DA.
The remaining mystery is how her baby ended up dead the next day — and stashed in her shopping bag in the Victoria’s Secret branch at Herald Square in Manhattan.

According to the DA:
Security personnel at a Victoria’s Secret store in Herald Square stopped RODRIGUEZ and her friend for possible shoplifting, and discovered the deceased infant in RODRIGUEZ’s bag. The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner later ruled that the infant’s death was caused by homicidal asphyxiation.

“There is perhaps no victim more defenseless than a newborn child,” says District Attorney Cyrus Vance in a statement. “The baby’s body was only discovered after his mother was questioned by a store security officer who suspected her of theft. I am confident that the experienced homicide and child abuse prosecutors in my Office will see that justice is served in this tragic case.”
The New York Daily News previously reported that Rodriguez, who also has a three-year-old son, was stopped because a security guard spotted her trying to steal a $44.50 pair of skinny jeans.
The shoplifting charges have since been dropped. She’s now facing one felony count of murder in the second degree.
When Rodriguez was first arrested, her friends reportedly wrote messages of support on her Facebook page, including ”hold your head up” and “none of these people know you like we do.” Rodriguez has since shut down her Facebook profile.
