Brooklyn Teens Mugged Near Movie Theater in Possible Spree: Police
Two local teen boys told police that masked men robbed them near the Pavilion Theater on the border of Park Slope and Windsor Terrace.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Two teenage boys walking toward the Pavilion Theater along the western edge of Prospect Park last Monday night, Jan. 28, told police they were robbed at gunpoint by men in ski masks.
The pair of street robbers allegedly trapped the boys, aged 15 and 16, by approaching them from the front and back along 14th Street around 8:30 p.m., according to the NYPD,
One of the robbers placed the 16-year-old boy in a choke hold, produced a firearm and said, ’Give me your phone,’” a police spokeswoman told Patch.

The teen complied, police said — as did the other teen with whom he’d been walking. The suspects are then alleged to have fled west toward 8th Avenue.
The 16-year-old’s mom later told DNAinfo that her son and his friend “were in absolute shock.”

“Since then he’s been pretty quiet,” she said. “He says he’s fine, but he’s a teenage boy and they don’t talk a lot. Physically he wasn’t harmed but he was really, really shaken up.”
A similar incident was reported shortly afterward at 562 9th St., just five blocks north, according to police.
In the second mugging, a man was allegedly approached by two robbers, who — again — demanded he give them his phone, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
“The victim told them ’No,’ and the perpetrators proceeded to take property off the victim and hit him, causing cuts, bruises, pain and swelling to the complainant’s face,” the spokeswoman said.
A broken, black toy gun was recovered from the scene of the second mugging, according to police.
However, one week into the investigation, NYPD detectives have yet to determine whether the toy had any ties to the robbery — or if the second mugging had any relation to the first.
