Community Board 7 Rethinks Local Truck Route
A meeting will be held to gauge community concern.

The Community Board 7 Transportation Committee recently solicited the Department of Transportation to analyze the 20th Street truck route between 3rd and 7th avenues, based on resident concerns that the road is too narrow to accommodate two-way truck traffic.
A proposal is on the table to implement the following changes:
- Changing 20th Street between 3rd and 7th Avenues into a one-way, eastbound local truck route.
- Extending the local truck route along 7th Avenue from 19th Street to Prospect Avenue.Â
- Adding a westbound local truck route on Prospect Avenue from 7th to 4th avenues.Â
- Reversing the direction ot 21st Street (nonÂtruck route) to travel westbound.Â
Converting 20th Street to an eastbound-only road would have a few implications. The first is that a westbound route be created on either 7th Avenue north to Prospect Avenue, or 7th Avenue south to 22nd Street.

Making 20th Street one-way would also create three consecutive eastbound-only roads, which could potentially be solved by converting 21st Street into a one-way westbound road.
