Fairway Shuttle Now Requires Reservations

The shuttle has seen low ridership in its nascent weeks.

All aboard the Fairway shuttle—but not without a reservation.

Due to low ridership, , which each Wednesday carts car-less residents from the now-empty Key Food lot at 589 Prospect Ave. to the store's Red Hook location, is now requiring riders to book a space in advance.

The new rules stipulate that the shuttle—which currently offers pick-up times at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.— will only run if 10 people sign up. Passengers can also gather a group of 10 and book the shuttle anytime Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A call to Fairway reps was not returned by press time.

The idea for the shuttle was spearheaded by Councilman Brad Lander, D-Park Slope as a means of ameliorating the closing of Windsor Terrace's only supermarket in June. is also in place.
