
With the Fourth of July less than a month away, the NYPD wants to remind you that fireworks remain illegal throughout the entire state.Â
This year's anti-firework campaign has already begun in earnest, with police offering up to $1,000 for information leading to fireworks-related arrests and convictions.
Police are urging anyone who sees firework-themed crime in progress to call 911, or 311 to provide information.

Last year, the NYPD destroyed nearly 5,000 pounds of confiscated fireworks and made dozens of arrests. Undercover officers have also been known to hold stakeouts in Pennsylvania—the closest state in which fireworks remain legal—and tail cars with New York plates back to city limits.
Officers in the 72nd Precinct said enforcement will be no less vigilant this year, so the moral here is that if you just have to get your hands on some fireworks, New York is not the place to do it.
