Is Park Slope Taking Over Windsor Terrace? [POLL]

Park Slope's hefty historic district has ballooned into Windsor Terrace.

A 580-building approved Tuesday by the Landmark Preservation Commission officially makes the neighborhood home to the largest historic district in the city. But are some of those extra buildings maybe not Park Slope's to claim?

While we're very proud of the latest success of our neighbors to the northwest, the fact that a chunk of the district's new addition is located squarely in what most locals consider Windsor Terrace borders may be cause for concern.

The area in question is relatively small, spanning the western side of Bartel-Pritchard Square down to 16th Street, before cutting back to 14th St. at 8th Avenue. (Most think of Windsor Terrace as beginning at 15th Street.)

But perhaps the size isn't as important as what the inclusion of the street represents.

Windsor Terrace is largely considered a little less "precious" than nearby Park Slope, with its abundance of off-road ready Maclaren strollers and proliferation of cafes that tout the "babycino" as an acceptable infant beverage. The cost of living in Windsor Terrace is generally lower, and many residents appreciate the existence of a little Brooklyn grit decidedly absent in the neighborhood next door.

Gothamist wasted no time in painting a grim picture of the future Windsor Terrace, an anesthetized hellscape of and, God forbid, locally sourced arugula.

"What's next, Terrace Bagel starts bragging about the best bagels in Park Slope? Farrell's bar opens a special stroller section for Mommy Happy Hour? LOCALLY SOURCED ORGANIC ARUGALA [sic] AT THE KEY FOOD ON PROSPECT AVENUE?" the article bellows.

It's a slippery slope (pun aggressively intended). You go to sleep a Windsor Terrace resident, but is it just a matter of time before the Brooklyn real estate juggernaut has everyone living in WindSlope? Is Windsor Terrace doomed to become the next ? Are we maybe overreacting a little? Take our poll, and tell us in the comments.
