Kensington Aerobics & Fitness Closes; Patrons Want Membership Fees Back
Were you a member at the gym? Here's what you can do to get your dues back.

KENSINGTON, BROOKLYN — Kensington Aerobics & Fitness abruptly closed recently, and members say they are being stiffed of dues that they have paid, some for nearly a year out.
The notice pictured above, from the city marshal's office, popped up on the gym's door some time last week. The notice says that the property, on Caton Avenue and East Second Street, is now under legal possession by the landlord.
One tipster tweeted us a photo saying it had been shut down for three days. The property appears to have been taken over by its landlord for unpaid rent dues. The phone number listed for the gym has been disconnected.

Dan Campanelli, chief of staff to Assembylman Robert Carroll, told Patch that Carroll's office started hearing about the gym's closure on Monday. Campanelli also said that Carroll's office has been in contact with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office about the issue.
Anyone who bought a gym membership can contact Carroll's office at 718-788-7221 or by emailing CarrollR@nyassembly.gov for assistance in filing a complaint.
Complaints can be filed online here, and Carroll's office asks that people who do file also email CarrollR@nyassembly.gov so they can keep track of complaints.
