Pizzeria and Cocktail Bar Coming to Church Ave.

Wheated is set to open in early 2013 on Church Avenue.

Looks like Church Avenue will soon be the home to another new business.

Wheated, a new pizzeria and cocktail bar, will open in early 2013 where NYC ICY once stood at 905 Church Ave., according to Slated.

Husband-wife duo David Sheridan and Kim McAdam told Slice the name comes from their appreciation for that particular style of bourbon whiskey, "as well as most anything made from wheat."

"We envision a place where our guests will enjoy a well-made cocktail and a killer pizza," Sheridan, who hails from Gravesend, told Slice. "Our plan is to give equal attention to the bar and restaurant aspects."

Sheridan noted the pizzeria has been in the works for more than a year and a half, saying that after a long search, he and McAdam finally found the right spot in Ditmas Park to open his business. "I count five spaces we were serious about leasing only to have things fall apart. Each time was a let down and had me questioning if we would ever find a place to call our own," he said.

This is particularly good news for Church Avenue, which as we noted, has its share of shuttered businesses.
