Police Blotter: Shots Fired Friday Night

The following information comes from police reports from the 72nd Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

Shots Fired

Police responded to an anonymous call reporting shots fired in Windsor Terrace on Friday night.

The call came over the radio at 10:43 p.m., directing officers to the northeast corner of 11th Avenue and 16th Street. The caller remained anonymous and did not stay on the scene to meet police, who searched from 16th Street to Prospect Avenue but found evidence of neither the suspect nor shell casings from the bullets.

Police said they believe the suspect was acquainted with the victim, who was uninjured, but would not reveal further details due to ongoing investigations.

No arrests have been made.

Bike Rack Stolen

A Windsor Terrace man's pricey roof rack was stolen off of his car on Saturday, police said.

According to reports, the victim returned to his car, which was parked just outside his apartment on Seeley Street and Prospect Park Southwest, to find that his Thule bike rack, as well as a McLaren stroller, had been pried from the roof of his Volvo sedan. The losses total nearly $1,000.

There were no cameras in the area, and no arrests have been made.

Illegal Eviction

A 67-year-old Windsor Terrace man awoke on April 27th to find that the electricity in his apartment had been turned off and that his mailbox lock had been changed by his building's superintendent.

The victim, who lives on East 8th Street near Caton Place, told police that these were just the latest in a string of illegal actions perpetrated against him by the super, with permission from the building's owner. The victim told police that the harassment began after he took both the super and the owner to housing court, though police reports do not reveal when the complaint was filed or the reasons behind it.
