Prospect Park Trying To Find New Caterer For Boathouse Weddings After Old One 'Disappears'
"We are working with existing clients of Movable Feast to connect them with another caterer that can accommodate their event."

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — The nonprofit that manages Prospect Park is working to find a new caterer for weddings at the park's boathouse after the old one reportedly disappeared, leaving happy couples-to-be in limbo over their nuptial plans.
Movable Feast, which exclusively caters events at the boathouse, has seemingly dropped off the face of Brooklyn with no explanation, as reported Wednesday by Gothamist.
The company has stopped responding to customers who have paid five-figure deposits along with the nonprofit Prospect Park Alliance, Gothamist reported. And signs posted outside their offices on Prospect Park West say they have "closed," with no explanation.

"Prospect Park Alliance is currently attempting to clarify the status of Movable Feast, which has successfully catered weddings at the Boathouse for over 20 years," Prospect Park Alliance spokeswoman Deborah Kirschner said in an email to Patch. "In the meantime, we are working with existing clients of Movable Feast to connect them with another caterer that can accommodate their event."
In the mean time, couples who have put down deposits of $12,000 and $13,000 don't know what to do next.

"Our families are very supportive. They've said they'll help however they can," Jessica Giantonio told Gothamist. "I think my fiancé and I are the most upset. We feel like we got scammed. It's a very important day involving a lot of money. We just feel like this is the worst thing that could happen."
Movable Feast has catered weddings at the boathouse for more than 20 years, and when the park issued a request for proposals for an exclusive caterer in 2008, the company was chosen for a five-year contract. "Due to their successful track record," their contract has been extended for a year for the last five years, Kirschner said.
