Rally Against Walgreens Next Week

The Windsor Terrace Alliance and the listserv KWTNeighbors will hold a rally in front of the former Key Food.

The fight against Walgreens' impending arrival in Windsor Terrace will wage on next week, with a rally in front of the already-empty Key Food scheduled for Thursday, June 28.

Local elected officials have been asked by the rally's organizers, the Windsor Terrace Alliance and the listserv KWTNeighbors, to report at the rally any updates regarding the mega-chain's plans to come to the area, and what it intends to offer residents once it arrives.

The rally comes off the heels of an , in which hundreds of enraged residents showed up to express their disdain for the store before local elected officials and one very flustered Walgreens representative.

Organizers have asked each of the area's elected officials, including Assemblyman Jim Brennan, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Councilman Brad Lander, D-Park Slope, to report to the rally with any updates from Walgreens.

The rally will also double as a canned food drive organized by Community Board 7. All items collected will be distributed among Windsor Terrace seniors, many of whom don't drive and are now without walkable access to fresh food.
