The Early Word: Great Googa Mooga Sold Out?

It seems the days of other-worldly weather have come to an end, at least for now. Here are some upcoming events that will hopefully lift your soggy spirits, in spite of the less-than-stellar skies expected today.

1. Called "the fun alternative to Westminster" by organizers, the Brooklyn Mutt Show will be promenading its way to the Brooklyn Lyceum on March 24th and 25th. will be arriving with their adoption van full of dogs and cats in need of homes. We're not sure, but we bet you can enter your new pet into the competition right there on the spot. Click here for more information about the event.

2. Yeah, we get that it's a DJ term, but our fingers feel silly even typing the words "Great Googa Mooga," an event coming to Prospect Park in May that boasts 75 food vendors, 35 brewers, 30 winemakers and 20 bands. Last we heard though, the 40,000 free tickets—made available yesterday afternoon— were snapped up with suspicious speed, provoking a flurry of livid tweets from early registrants promised their due. Extra Mooga tickets are still available, but but at $250 a pop, they're far from free.

3. Start your weekend off with Keith Haring, an American artist whose work will be on display at the Brooklyn Museum from now until July 8. Click here for ticket info and a preview of some of Haring's pieces.
