The Early Word: Learn to Urban Garden at Kingsborough Community College

1. Brooklyn has a new "B," and it's not the one stamped on the . The Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend that Prospect Park is home to the first known specimen of the "sweat bee," so named because it sips, uh, sweat. How...neat? Read the full story here.

2. Interested in urban gardening, but unsure where to start? Not only is Kingsborough Community College home to its own high-production urban farm, on urban gardening, flower production and breaking into the local food business. Registration is now open for spring and early summer, or just drop in to lend a hand during the farm's open volunteer days each Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

3. The Kensington La Leche League will meet for the last time before fall this morning at 11 a.m. All mothers interested in breast feeding who would like to attend can email Heather at hezmez@optonline.net.

4. Honeydew Drop Play House is hosting a family disco night on Saturday, May 19th, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and will provide entry for two adults and one child.
