The Early Word: Day One

The 72nd Precinct community council meeting, Compost for Brooklyn and "Carrie."

Good morning, and welcome to The Early Word! The goal of this column is to let you know what's going on around town, in easily digestible chunks suitable for even the pre-coffee hours. With no further ado:

1. The 72nd Precinct is holding their monthly community council meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. As always, the public is invited to air any crime-related grievances with the people who patrol your streets. 2. Compost for Brooklyn will spring forward to new hours beginning on Thursday. Bring your fruit and veggie scraps to Newkirk Avenue and East 8th Street at the following times:

4. Work getting to you? Feeling overwhelmed by life? Take a midday break to enjoy the film adaptation of the Stephen King classic at the Central Library, and take solace in the fact that no matter how bad your day is, at least it won't involve a bucket of pig's blood. We assume.
