The Early Word: The Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket Opens Today!

What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. If you missed the first to score free tickets to the Great GoogaMooga, you get another (and this one is even better): Snap a picture of a dish or drink from any GoogaMooga participating restaurant, upload it to Foodspotting and add the hashtag #googamooga for the chance to win passes to Extra Mooga, which gets you all sorts of free stuff (read: food). 

2. is holding the second iteration of its kid's cooking class this Saturday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost is $30, and all meals prepared will be donated to the Park Slope Women's Shelter. More information is available here.

3. The Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket (formerly the Windsor Terrace Greenmarket) opens for the season this morning at 8 a.m., and will be in operation each Wednesday until Nov. 21. Huzzah!

4. Browse the work of more than 50 local artists this weekend at the Prospect Park Craft Fair, to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bartel-Pritchard Square entrance to the park. Excellently timed for those who still have yet to locate a gift for Mother's Day. You know who you are.

5. Alternate side parking rules are in effect.
