The Early Word: Enjoy Prospect Park After Dark

What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. Friends of Greenwood Playground will host family movie night in the playground's handball courts on July 22 at 7 p.m. Bring blankets, chairs, flashlights, snacks and bug spray. The movie will be announced on the group's Facebook page this week, so be sure to check in. 

2. The Windsor Terrace Alliance is looking for volunteers to collect signatures on petitions, hand out fliers and signs and communicate with their neighbors about the latest developments at the former Key Food site. Interested? Send an e-mail to Laura Jacobs at henriettacat@hotmail.com that includes your name, e-mail address, phone number and the name of the street you live on, plus cross-streets. 

3. Want to experience Prospect Park after dark?  of the park on Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Snacks will be provided, as well as lessons on nocturnal animals. Cost is $10.

4.  Good news, G train riders: If sources at the Daily News are to be believed, to and from Kensington's Church Avenue stop after construction of the Culver Viaduct is complete next year. Phew!

5. Alternate side parking rules are in effect today.
