The Early Word: Police Unity Showcase Cancelled

What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. The Unity Showcase Festival, an event slated to be held by local police precincts at Bartel-Pritchard Circle this Sunday, has been cancelled due to forecasted rainy weather. There is no new date currently scheduled, but we'll let you know when we hear of one.

2. 's Week of Action, in which community members will join forces with the grocery store's embattled workers in their fight for unpaid back-wages, will kick off this Sunday. Check back later today for a more detailed description of the events to take place.

3. Kids 'n Action, located at 1149 McDonald Ave. between avenues I and J, is offering half-off an indoor playground pass, which includes two slices of pizza, soda and ten game tickets. Originally valued at $24, the pass can be yours for $12 through Living Social. Get it while it's hot.

4. Going on in Prospect Park this weekend is the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup Prospect Park Cycling Series, in which 200 cyclists will race 44 miles (or 13 laps) around the park. The race will start and end at the park's Willink entrance at 6:15 a.m. Get in on the action here.
